Wii 1080p solution
$499.00
For top audio fidelity, the AVR-790 features the latest high resolution audio decoders, including Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio, and is one of the first to include Dolby Pro Logic IIz, which provides front height channel effects for an incredibly expansive front soundstage. The video section features the latest Video Reference Series processor from Anchor Bay Technologies, providing analog-to-digital video deinterlacing and upconversion to HD, with both component and HDMI outputs, and features 1080p 24Hz/60Hz HDMI pass-through, allowing a single HDMI cable run to your HDTV. Audyssey’s advanced MultEQ room acoustic measurement and correction system analyzes the speakers and the listening room and automatically corrects the response for the smoothest, most natural tonal balance. Audyssey Dynamic Volume and Dynamic EQ are provided to ensure rich, natural tonal quality at any volume level, and with no annoying volume jumps during commercial interruptions. With four HDMI inputs and dual component inputs, the AVR-790 is fully prepared for present and future HD sources.

I've been doing research on what upscales the Wii to 1080p for the best price and best quality. The Denon 790 seems to be the best bet so far and you can find one on Amazon.com for about $415. I've tried the "XCM Mega Cool 1080p vga box" and while it's ok and does scale to 1600 x 1200 on my LCD HDTV it doesn't actually scale to 1080p without vertical lines that are rather bothersome (which explains why it's only $70). The XCM also doesn't really do any Deinterlacing which gets rid of those annoying jaggies that you see in all Wii games on a big screen HDTV. The Denon 790 does all of that and more since you can hook up your old DVD player to the receiver and it will upscale and deinterlace the signal to glorious 1080p. The Denon 790 uses the latest Video Reference Series processor that just came out about 2 months ago allowing it to give you quality better than most upscalers out there. I suggest checking it out.
