New Nintendo CEO, Shuntaro Furukawa seems gung-ho about getting new hardware ready for future Nintendo consoles, including a new portable and possibly a future home console, which could all be under the “Switch” umbrella but for obvious “sell as much as possible of the current models” mindset, Furukawa is unlikely to admit to new Switch consoles in a family just yet.
The things to keep in mind from this video: Nintendo’s stock dropped 20 percent in the last month, Furukawa likely felt more pressure to make clear that Nintendo is working on future hardware for release in the not too distant future to keep investors happy and putting money back into the company.
With that considered, Nintendo is due to release a New Switch Variant as soon as 2019 if judging how they released the 3DS XL a year and a half after the original was released in 2011. Also with the rampant piracy/hacking now in full effect on Switch, a New Switch console variant or re-design seems likely to happen sooner rather than later.
